Our Inspiration

Just For Us – A Community of I&O Wellness Center, Inc. · Build Connection · Thrive · Have Fun

As the Just For Us Team, our community was created because we kept seeing the same gap: neurodiverse adults often age out of youth services without the structure, connection, or safe social environment they still deeply need. Families want guidance. Young adults want belonging. And too often, they are left navigating the world alone.

One moment made this need unmistakably clear. A neurodiverse young adult we supported unintentionally connected with unsafe individuals online while simply searching for companionship. Her innocence — and her vulnerability — reminded us that without consistent, healthy community, people are far more at risk. Connection is not just meaningful. It is protective.

Our founder, Julie Maria, brings a rich blend of professional and lived experiences that shape this vision. As a registered New Jersey DDD vendor and positive behavior support coach, her work is grounded in healthcare administration, human resources, and behavioral sciences. Her volunteer work in her church’s children’s ministry — especially supporting children who need additional patience and understanding — continues to deepen her compassion.

Her journey as a cancer survivor taught her what it means to overcome challenges, defy expectations, and believe in the possibility of better days. That resilience is carried into everything we do.

Why Community Matters

Healthy, predictable community is a protective factor. It lowers isolation, increases safety, and gives neurodiverse adults a place to belong without judgment.

Every gathering, every skill practiced, and every friendship built is rooted in dignity, safety, and hope.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple and heartfelt:
To create a safe, uplifting community where neurodiverse adults can build connection, strengthen life skills, grow confidently, and have fun — all within a supportive, predictable environment.

We focus on:

  • Connection that reduces isolation and builds meaningful relationships
  • Skill-building that supports independence and emotional regulation
  • Positive Behavior Support that honors each person’s pace and strengths
  • Wellness practices rooted in breathing, movement, and healthy routines
  • Joy-filled experiences that promote confidence, belonging, and fun

Research consistently shows that community improves well-being, strengthens emotional resilience, and supports independence over time. We see those truths every day.

As our digital community continues to grow, Julie Maria hopes to expand into more in-person offerings so neurodiverse adults can learn and thrive in multiple supportive settings.

At Just For Us, we don’t rush people — we walk with them.
We are more than a program.
We are a community of care, safety, and possibility.

We are Just For Us.

The Just For Us team

Who We Serve

The Just For Us Community serves neurodiverse adults who benefit from structured social connection, positive behavior support, and a safe digital environment. Our program is an educational and informational platform—we are not medical providers and do not offer clinical treatment or diagnostic services.

We primarily support adults who qualify for New Jersey’s Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) services, as well as individuals identified by a qualified medical professional with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, or another developmental disability.

Participants generally demonstrate a minimum cognitive understanding of approximately fourteen years of age, which helps ensure meaningful peer interaction and successful group engagement. Additional program details are provided to eligible applicants during the interview stage, based on available openings.

These criteria ensure that each participant can benefit from the community experience and that group interactions remain positive, respectful, and developmentally appropriate. All applicants are evaluated using the same screening process and given equal consideration.
